FIFA makes another cut: Morocco-Portugal referee returns home

With the end of the World Cup, FIFA began to “fix the house” regarding refereeing.

With only four games left, 12 referees remain until the end of the competition. The Argentinian Facundo Tello, referee of Morocco-Portugal, is dismissed, because, having reached the semi-finals, there can be no referees of the nationalities of the selections still in competition.

Mateu Lahoz could continue in the competition, since Spain has been eliminated, but this referee, much criticized by Lionel Messi during the Netherlands-Argentina final, of the quarter-finals, is also returning home.

Among the referees who remain in Qatar, it is already known that the Italian Daniele Orsato will officiate the Argentina-Croatia match.

The list of judges who remain at the world championship:

Anthony Taylor (ING)
Daniele Orsato (ITA)
Danny Makkelie (HOL)
Szymon Marciniak (POL)

Cesar Ramos (MEX)
Ismail Elfath (USA)

Raphael Claus (BRA)
Wilton Pereira Sampaio (BRA)
