EasyJet has launched a campaign to recruit parents aged 45 and over as cabin crew. An airline survey showed that 78% of UK parents want a new challenge when their children leave home. With this in mind, easyJet has launched the ‘Empty Nesters Take Flight’ campaign.
The campaign was launched during National Older Worker Week, which began on November 21 and will run until November 25. The adverts feature real easyJet crew members who recently joined the British airline, all over the age of 45.
Apart from the fact that parents like to take on a new challenge when their children leave home, working in the same company as their son or daughter is another motivation for changing careers. Father-daughter and mother-daughter images are therefore present in advertisements.
In the top 10 new career choices for parents over 45, a cabin crew position ranks 5th. 26% of respondents would aspire to this position. Since 2018, the number of cabin members aged 45 and over has increased by 27%. For those over 60, there is even a 30% increase.
