Since it was announced that Qatar would be the country chosen to host the World Cup 2022 there have been countless examples of news and celebrity commentary denouncing FIFA’s choice and blaming the organization for valuing money more than human rights.

Some football players have already said several times that they will wear the rainbow flag armband to support the LGTB community while participating in the 2022 World Cup, regardless of Qatar’s rules and laws.

The country which has anti-LGBTQIA+ laws and other human rights issues has sparked a lot of debate on the networks.

However, sources close to Shakira have hinted that she may be involved in other World Cup-related actions.

Who are the artists who refused to perform in Qatar?

It was not easy to find singers willing to travel around the country and perform.

One of the most popular artists to say ‘no’ to the World Cup is the pop singer Doua Lipa🇧🇷 The singer explained that she didn’t get to the point of negotiating because her decision was made from the start.

Rod Stewart was also one of the candidates to perform, but the singer recently explained why he declined the lucrative offer.

“They offered me a huge amount of money, over a million dollars for the show, but I declined because I don’t think it’s fair to go to a country with these ideas and these values”, the saying Stewart.

The artists who have said yes to Qatar and who can be seen performing are: J. Balvin, Robbie Williams, Jason Derulo, Clean Bandit, Sean Paul, Nora Fatehi, Black Eyed Peas, Jungkook from BTS and Nicki Minaj, Maluma and Miriam Fares.

These last three were responsible for creating the official song of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Shakira once did the theme song for the World Cup in 2010.

The song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” was a big hit at the South African edition of the tournament.
