Sporting go to the winter market in search of a striker. Apparently, Rúben Amorim has chosen the striker position in this closed season and the leonine administration is stepping on the accelerator to grant the technician’s wish.
After Mateo Tanlongo no longer ran away from Clube de Alvalade (Read more here) and strengthen the midfield, it’s time to bring another option on the attacking front.
According to the newspaper A Bola, Sporting are looking for a striker who can be an alternative to Paulinho, since the number 20 of the lions is the only one who offers the reference characteristics from the surface.
It is true that Amorim has often opted for a more mobile attack, without a fixed reference in the attack, with the trio of Francisco Trincão, Marcus Edwards and Pedro Gonçalves, but also largely due to a lack of options.
So far, Rochinha, Fatawu, Jovane Cabral and Arthur Gomes have had fewer chances and, like Rodrigo Ribeiro and Youssef Chermiti – the latter still waiting for his debut – they are waiting for Rúben Amorim’s ‘ok’.
According to the sports daily, after the midfielder (Tanlongo), the striker is the next priority, and the lions want to hit the goal as soon as possible. However, the hiring of a full-back and even a central can still follow.
