It will be the second consecutive week of falling fuel prices: this Monday, Portuguese drivers could feel some relief in their wallets: “The evolution of prices in euros points to a price drop of 1.5 cents per 95 liter for gasoline while diesel liter is expected to fall by 2 cents,” a source from one of the major national oil companies told ‘Multinews’.

In the same vein, the prices of the stations adjoining the hypermarkets follow the market trend, with a “drop of 0.0092 euros for gasoline and a sharp drop of 0.0125 euros for diesel”, advanced another source.

Thus, from this Monday, filling a 60-litre tank of gasoline will cost 90 cents less. The bill for topping up a diesel tank will be 1.2 euros cheaper.

Data from the Directorate General of Energy and Geology (DGEG) shows that the average price of a liter of simple diesel in Portugal currently costs 1.952 euros per litre, while that of 95 simple petrol is worth 1.838 euros . The latest fuel bulletin from the European Commission indicates that Portugal has the 9th most expensive gasoline 95 of the 27 countries of the European Union. Diesel occupies the 14th position in the European ranking.

According to European data, the price of diesel in Portugal is lower than the European average, set at 1,973 euros. Petrol, on the other hand, has a higher value, with the EU average standing at 1,806 euros.
