Starlink could be a victim of your success story

Starlink, designed by Elon Musk and signed by SpaceX, is the private space company’s young promise and, indeed, has an important purpose. However, apparently, as it attracts more people, the internet speed it provides slows down.

Will the service be a victim of its success story?

stellar link

In the first half of this year 2022, Starlink satellite internet service attracted a large number of customers. According to the company's latest quarterly report Okayalong with its growing popularity, the speed it once guaranteed has slowed worldwide.

Incidentally, in all the countries where Ookla operates, such as Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States and New Zealand, Starlink's average download speed has decreased, from the second quarter of 2021 until today.

Depending on the country, the declines varied between 9% and 54%. For example, the average download speed for users of the stellar linkin the US, at its lowest point last year, was around 60 Mbps, which is more than enough for the average person's daily internet connection.

Even so, it remains well below the 90 Mbps value recorded in June. Speed in the United States was the lowest in these latest measurements, while other countries, such as New Zealand and France, recorded average speeds of around 100 Mbps.

The simplest answer to this slowdown has to do with the ever-growing membership list. After all, in May, Starlink already had over 400,000 global users.

Given this scenario, if SpaceX and Elon Musk can guarantee acceptable speeds with the increase in the number of customers, Starlink can really be a successful network.
