iOS 16 feature list: Contents of Apple’s iPhone update, new lock screen explained and how to download it

Apple unveiled its latest line of iPhones — the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models — last week at a launch event in California.

The new phones will feature an updated chipset and improvements have been made to the camera as well.

However, you don’t need to own a brand new iPhone to see your device improve, as Apple has also released its latest operating system, iOS 16, which is compatible with older models.

It has significant updates to the lock screen, in particular, which give users more customization options than ever before.

Here’s everything you need to know about iOS 16 and how to download it.

What are the new features of iOS 16?

The most noticeable change is to the lock screen, which has undergone a complete overhaul.

There are now a lot more customization options, and you can set multiple lock screens that you can toggle depending on how you use your phone, such as working or chatting with friends.

You can now add widgets to the lock screen and play around with different fonts and colors, making it much more personalized than ever.

“Choose to display a set of widgets as part of your lock screen to display information such as weather, time, date, battery levels, upcoming calendar events, alarms, time zones activity ring schedules and progress,” Apple says.

This new lock screen is linked to an improved focus mode. The lock screen you create for Focus Mode will now automatically set when your phone is in this setting, while apps will also be smarter about which notifications they choose to send.

Notifications, including the notification summary, now scroll from the bottom of the lock screen, making it easy to see them as soon as they arrive.

Another big change is the ability to edit sent messages in the Messages app, as well as cancel messages entirely and mark messages as unread.

The new iCloud Shared Photo Library will allow people with Family Sharing enabled to easily share photos with loved ones in their own dedicated library.

The updated wallet will now allow users to verify their driver’s license for purchases or app access, and Apple is also increasing privacy settings once again, giving users more control over who they interact with. share their data, including the ability to revoke access to people you’ve already shared with.
