Portugal obtained, this Thursday, two medals in the final of the Diamond League, in Zurich, Switzerland. On Wednesday, Auriol Dongmo won bronze in the women’s shot put.
In the men’s triple jump, Pedro Pablo Pichardo, winner of the competition in 2021, finished in second place and took silver, with the best jump at 17.63 (on the first try). The Olympic and world champion was just behind the Cuban Andy Hernández Díaz (17.70). In third and with the silver medal was another Cuban, Alejandro Díaz Fortun, with the best jump at 17.60.
Liliana clinched bronze here – for the first time in her Diamond League career – on the women’s discus release, with the best score of 63.34, achieved on the fourth attempt. American Valarie Allman won gold (67.77) and Croatian Sandra Perkovic silver (67.31).
Finally, in the women’s triple jump, Patrícia Mamona finished sixth and last in this final, in Zurich. Mamona had the best jump in 14.24, far from the best personal mark (15.01), in a competition won by Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas (15.28).
