THE BALL – Roglic wins the first stage in Spain and is the new leader (Returns to Spain)

Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) won the fourth stage of the Vuelta a España by bike. The Slovenian was the fastest to cover the 152.5 kilometers between Vitoria-Gasteiz and Laguardia, in what was the first stage on Spanish soil (the first three were in the Netherlands).

In a sprint finish, Roglic (he did 3:31.05 hours) overtook Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) and Enric Mas (Movistar). A triumph that allows him to wear the red jersey and take the lead in the general classification.

In total, Roglic leads by 13 seconds over Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma) and 26 seconds over the INEOS trio of Ethan Hayter, Pavel Sivakov and Tao Geoghegan Hart.

João Almeida (UAE-Team Emirates) finished the stage in 27th place, 27 seconds from the winner and went from 27th to 14th place overall, 53 seconds from the lead.
