Rui Costa, president of Benfica, congratulated Fernando Pimenta, who won three medals in the European canoeing which ends in Munich, and this Sunday he won the other in the last event, the 5000m.
“It is with great pride that I congratulate our canoeist Fernando Pimenta on winning the gold medal in the K1 5000 meters. At the European Championships in Munich, resilience came through in a unique way, crowned by today’s victory.
It is the well-deserved reward for all the performances achieved throughout this particular year, joining the other medals already obtained in the same competition – bronze in the K1 500 meters and silver in the K1 1000 meters.
