These €2 coins are worth thousands and could be in your wallet

In 2021, the Central Bank of Lithuania issued a series of two euro coins honoring the Zuvintas Nature Reserve. 500,000 coins were issued, but a production problem meant that 500 ended up containing errors.

This misadventure has made them highly sought-after coins by collectors – of coins and rare objects – and those who have discovered that they are in possession of these numismatic rarities do not want to miss the opportunity to exchange two euros for hundreds or thousands.

According to the Spanish newspaper “El Economista”, citing information from the “Colleccionistas de Monedas” portal, some of the coins, instead of including the caption “God bless Latvia”, display the inscription “Freedom, Unity, Welfare “.

This site reports that the error in the production of these 500 two-euro coins has caused many collectors to become interested in acquiring them, and some sellers of these rare coins are selling them at prices that far exceed their official monetary value. On this online page, some of the Lithuanian coins will be sold for two thousand euros.

The site’s managers say that “at the moment we don’t know enough about the purchase values, but about the sale prices”, and that we now have to see if collectors are ready to spend this money on an object which, in essence, is a rarity.
