The first half of this year saw a 7.4% drop in passenger car sales in Portugal compared to the first half of 2021, according to ACAP data. Between January and June, 75,449 vehicles were registered, nearly 6,000 less than a year earlier.
However, the all-electric passenger car segment continues to grow significantly. In June alone, 1,652 vehicles were sold, up 24.1% year-on-year.
And looking at the semester, the growth is 62.7%, for a total of 7,637 cars. Tesla leads this segment of the market, with 1,050 units sold. Peugeot follows with 763 and BMW with 635.
The offer is increasingly varied, with 28 brands offering fully electric models. Among them, 20 sold more than 100 vehicles in the first six months of the year.
