GTA Vice City cut mission discovered by youtuber in remaster

GTA Vice City was originally released in October 2002, and now, almost 20 years later, a mission cut from the game has been discovered. Apparently Tommy Vercetti would have been invited to participate in a film if Rockstar had not decided to abandon this quest.

The information comes from youtuber Vadim, who discovered the cut content by extracting data from the remastered version of GTA Vice City. He gathered everything he could about the mission, then edited a video showing how things would play out.

A cutscene would show Vercetti leaving the Ocean Beach police station and being followed by two Malibu Club thugs. He gets into a Banshee driven by a friend and flees, exchanging gunfire. When everything seems safe, the car crashes and explodes, killing them both. And that would be an in-game movie scene.

GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition presents the remastered editions of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas. The collection was developed by Grove Street Games and released with a surprising amount of bugs and performance issues. The set has been the subject of numerous memes and criticisms on the Internet, and the developers have worked to solving the problems from.

Ironically, this mission cut off from GTA Vice City was discovered now, two decades after the game was released, precisely because of another oversight by Grove Street Games, which ended up distributing a version of the games to everyone with several files for internal use only.
