False foot on the take-off line, as he was about to win the triple jump of the Meet de Paris, where Liliana Cá finished the album release in seventh position, dictated Pedro Pichardo’s permanence in third place on the Cuban-dominated podium.
Less than a month before the Eugene World Championships in the United States, from July 15 to 24, the Portuguese are fine-tuning their preparation and the Olympic vice-champion in the triple jump, Patrícia Mamona, traveled to Madrid to finish his participation in the Meet in fifth place, with a mark of 14.21 meters, far from the best of the year, of 14.35, on the fifth attempt.
In this competition for the World Continental Tour, three Portuguese obtained fourth place, by Lorene Bazolo, in the 200 meters (23.09 seconds), best personal best of the year; Vera Barbosa, in the 400m hurdles (56.37) and also best record of the year; and Leandro Ramos, with 74.64 meters in the javelin.
In the Diamond League stage in Paris, the Olympic champion did not hide his frustration at the cancellation of the last jump of an inch, which would have allowed him to exceed the 17.66 meters of the victory of Jordan Diaz, 21 years old. The Portuguese had to settle for 17.49 for the best jump, improving by a centimeter on the season’s best score outdoors. In second place, also a few centimeters behind the winner, Andy Díaz finished in 17.65.
