The maximum rent allowed in Porta 65, a rent assistance system for young people up to 35 years old, who are allocated a percentage of the value of the rent, in the form of a monthly subsidy, will almost double in some cities, including Lisbon and Porto. the news is Advanced this Thursday by Public newspaper.
The calculations made by the publication for each of the 308 Portuguese municipalities show that it is in the most expensive cities to rent a house that the update of the limits will be the most expressive.
In Porto, from 468 euros, the maximum rent authorized by Porta 65 for a T1 will increase to 775 euros, an increase of 65%. In a T3, the update is 106%, going from 581 euros to a maximum of 1200 euros.
In Lisbon, the highlight goes to the big houses. A T5 with a maximum rent of 1700 euros will be authorized, an increase of more than 95% compared to the current value of 869 euros. Already the maximum rent for a T3 is 82%, going from 756 euros to 1375 euros, while in a T1 the percentage will be 55%, going from 581 euros to 900 euros.
In several municipalities in the Algarve, one of the most expensive regions in the country to rent a house, the updates will also be important. This is the case in Albufeira, Castro Marim, Lagos, Loulé and Tavira, where the maximum rent provided for a T3 will increase by almost 90%, from 490 euros to 925 euros.
With the entry into force of the 2022 state budget, starting in the second half of this year, two criteria for applying for Porta 65 will also change. Porta 65 applicants are now eligible for this assistance even if they do not yet have a lease. At the same time, the limits provided for in the affordable rental program are taken into account.
