THE WhatsApp has officially announced what the messaging app’s next big feature will be: Communities. This feature will serve to bring together groups with similar interests.
Once these groups are joined, the administrators of these Communities can send messages to all the groups at once in order to facilitate the management of these conversations. However, in order to combat the spread of misinformation, WhatsApp will only allow you to forward messages to one group at a time.
In addition to communities, it will be possible to do more things in groups in the future. In addition to being able to react with emojis to specific messages, administrators can delete messages deemed problematic, it will be possible to send files up to 2 GB and also to make voice calls with a total of 32 people.
These features will be rolling out this week to a limited group of users and will only reach more people over the next few years.
