Manaus will have 52 service points for vaccination this week distributed in all the geographical areas of the city. There are 47 vaccination sites for people aged 12 and over and four exclusively for children aged 5 to 11, in addition to the Manaus Convention Center (Sambódromo), which maintains stations for both audiences.
In the capital, around 770,000 people completed the two-dose vaccination schedule more than four months ago and did not return to vaccination points for the first booster.
According to the Municipal Directorate of Health (Semsa), the vaccination sites will offer from the first to the fourth dose, depending on the public and the deadlines defined by the Ministry of Health, but the greatest expectation is the attendance of people who have already able to receive the booster dose (third).
All people over the age of 18 who received the second dose against Covid four months or more ago must be vaccinated. Semsa says even older people and health workers getting their flu shots should go to points of care. The vaccines can be taken at the same time, it is no longer necessary, in the case of adults, to wait 14 days.
Only people with symptoms of an acute disease should not be vaccinated. In this case, the recommendation is to wait for full recovery.
The four-month interval between the second and third dose is valid for the age group from 18 to 59 years. For people aged 60 and over, the interval is three months, and for people with a high degree of immunosuppression, only 28 days.
Children and adolescents do not yet have a recommendation for a booster dose. The exception is immunocompromised adolescents, who should be vaccinated with the third dose two months after the second.
Additionally, people aged 70 and over and immunocompromised adults can take the fourth dose four months after the third.
Of the 48 vaccination points open this week for the public aged 12 and over, 45 are health facilities and three are strategic high-speed points. All will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For children, the five strategic service points will be maintained – sambódromo, in the West zone; Sesi-Clube do Trabalhador, to the east; Studio 5 and Cidade da Criança Park, in the South Zone, open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Via Norte shopping center, in the North zone, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Addresses of all vaccination sites, with available vaccinators, required documentation and opening hours, can be found on the Semsa website via the link bit.ly/localvacinacovid19.
Semsa informs that the 52 points will be open from Monday 18 to Wednesday 20 and will not work on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 due to the Tiradentes holiday and the optional.
The vaccine will be offered again on Saturday, in the units open for the intensification of frontline services of the municipal network, as happened last weekend, during the “health sabbath”.
