News of brands in the automotive world now beginning to adopt projects and plans for the development and production of electric vehicles is increasingly recurrent.
In the case of Nissan, for example, it is already known that the manufacturer also intends to integrate into this segment. And the latest information indicates that the Japanese brand plans to launch its first electric car with solid-state batteries by 2028.
Nissan will launch electric with solid batteries by 2028
According to the latest information, Nissan plans to launch its first solid-state battery electric car by 2028. The brand on Friday (8) unveiled a prototype production plant in Yokohama, Japan, indicating that it intends to manufacture these batteries for use in electric vehicles.
on a communicated official, the company said it intends to "establish a pilot production line at its Yokohama plant in fiscal 2024, with materials, design and manufacturing processes for on-line prototyping being explored at the prototype production plant".
According to the information, theoretically, all solid-state batteries charge faster, store more energy and can last longer than lithium-ion batteries, which are found in most electric cars in existence today.
As such, Nissan said it hopes to eventually use these batteries in all of its next line of electric vehicles, including pickup trucks. The Japanese company also adds that its solid-state batteries could reduce battery prices to $75 per kWh by 2028, or even $65 per kWh. Therefore, this change could contribute to the production of electric cars that are more affordable, or even place them in the same values as motor vehicles.
Recently also GM and Honda revealed which together will produce more affordable electrical appliances, to try to overtake Tesla's sales.
