THE BALL – Portugal’s opponents in qualifying for the European Championship (Handball)

North Macedonia, Turkey and Luxembourg will be the opponents of the Portuguese handball team in qualifying for the 2024 European Championship, dictated the draw organized this Thursday in Berlin.

Portugal, which participated in pot 1, will face in group 1 the Macedonians, from pot 2, the Turks, from pot 3, and the Luxembourgers, from pot four.

Qualification for the finals, which will take place in Germany, is guaranteed by the top two teams in each group, in addition to the top four third-placed teams.

Already qualified are Germany (host country) and the three medalists of the last European: Sweden (gold), Spain (silver) and Denmark (bronze).

Here are the groups:

Group 1: Portugal, North Macedonia, Turkey and Luxembourg.

Group 2: Norway, Serbia, Slovakia and Finland.

Group 3: Iceland, Czech Republic, Israel and Estonia.

Group 4: Austria, Ukraine, Romania and Faroe Islands.

Group 5: Croatia, Netherlands, Greece and Belgium.

Group 6: Hungary, Switzerland, Lithuania and Georgia.

Group 7: Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.

Group 8: France, Poland, Latvia and Italy.
