The Disciplinary Council charges Pepe and Tabata

O The Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation retained this Wednesday Pepe and Tabata, as well as Luís Gonçalves, leader of the Dragons, for the incidents which occurred at the end of the Clásico between FC Porto and Sporting, on February 11, concerning the 22nd round of the championship.

Pepe and Tabata were sent off late in the game, when elements of both teams clashed. Referee João Pinheiro felt that the two had “violent behavior”.

The central of the blues and whites for having “kicked a director of the opposing team”, in the case of Hugo Viana, and the winger of the lions for having pushed Luís Gonçalves. Both were pre-emptively suspended for two games but now face suspensions of between two months and two years, a sentence which, with the indictment now deducted, will be decided after a disciplinary hearing.

The Disciplinary Board also deducted the accusation against Luís Gonçalves, who was expelled because, according to João Pinheiro, “he entered the field of play to provoke a conflict with the opponent”.
