Germans ensure Benfica are one step away from signing Roger Schmidt

ROger Schmidt was Benfica’s opponent at the start of this season when the Reds knocked Dutch side PSV out of the Champions League, but he could be one step away from leaving the Netherlands for Lisbon.

the german magazine kicker informs this Tuesday that Roger Schmidt, who leaves PSV at the end of the season, is practically closed by Benfica to guide the Luz club from next summer.

Schmidt, who has already made it public that he does not intend to renew his contract with PSV, has had, according to the same source, “fruitful meetings” with club officials da Luz and the signing of the contract “is imminent”.

The same magazine recalls that Roger Schmidt refused a transfer to RB Leipzig last December because his priority was to fulfill his contract with the Dutch team, which expires at the end of this season.

Schmidt, who is in his second season at PSV, has also played for other clubs such as Beijing Guoan (China), Bayer Leverkusen (Germany) and Red Bull Salzburg (Austria).
