João Paulo Correia is the new Secretary of State for Youth and Sports. The list of 38 state secretaries of the XXIII constitutional government has already been published on the website of the Presidency of the Republic, and the vice-president of the PS parliamentary group has been chosen for the aforementioned portfolio.
João Paulo Correia, since 2013 also president of the Junta da União de Freguesias de Mafamude and Vilar do Paraíso, in Vila Nova de Gaia, in the district of Porto, was born in 1976 and graduated in business organization and management, being a member of the Assembly of the Republic since 2009.
João Paulo Rebelo’s successor (he has held the position for the past six years) also chaired the Oliveira do Douro football club, in Vila Nova de Gaia, between 2012 and 2018.
It is recalled that the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports moves from the Ministry of Education to that of Parliamentary Affairs, led by Ana Catarina Mendes, parliamentary leader of the PS and who will also be Deputy Minister of Prime Minister António Costa.
The inauguration of the new government is scheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Ajuda National Palace.
