At the end of the Volta a Catalunya, proof that the Portuguese João Almeida came first and whose end took place this Sunday with the 23-year-old cyclist finishing in 3rd place in the general classification, the Portuguese was happy with his performance and also of the whole team (UAE Emirates).
“I am very happy. Yesterday [sábado], it was not a good day, but we were good as a team, we won a stage and we were very strong on the climbs. Third in the overall standings is very good. We wanted to win, but we can be happy. On Saturday I will race the Miguel Induraín Grand Prix and we will win. Then I want to focus on the main objective, the Giro d’Italia,” said João Almeida.
