This Sunday, Canada beat Jamaica 4-0 to secure Qatar World Cup appearance, ranked first in the qualifying zone of Concacaf, the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Football. Stephen Eustáquio provided the assist for Canada’s first goal.
Eustáquio was born in Ontario, Canada, but grew up in Portugal. The FC Porto midfielder also played seven matches with the Portuguese Under-21 team during qualifying for the European Championship, between 2017 and 2018.
In 2019, Stephen Eustáquio accepted the invitation to represent the Canadian national team, becoming an influential unit of the team: “Even though we didn’t qualify, I made the best decision of my life by coming to play for Canada. The relationship I have with my colleagues is what I will remember.
At 25, the midfielder will be with Canada at the Qatar World Cup and does not hide his desire to meet Portugal in the tournament. “Portugal in the group? I hope so!”
