“In Monaco we made fun of Bernardo because he wore old people’s clothes”

The Brazilian Jemerson rubbed shoulders with Bernardo Silva in Monaco and has fond memories of the Portuguese international.

“He was already very different. In training it was absurdly boring to score. He dribbled, on the restart you thought you were going to catch him, but he succeeded, because he finished very well or gave the pass. Also, tactically, he is very good because he gives 100% for the team. He has an incredible vision of the game and he is very talented,” he said, speaking to ESPN.

“Despite being a star, he recovers to help the defense score and that helps all of his team-mates a lot. In football today everyone needs to defend, and he had it from an early age. Apart from his physical resistance, which is very high, because he is always in attack and defense.

Jemerson even considers Bernardo Silva to be “a very cool person”, but he suffered in the Monegasque public baths because of… the clothes he wore.

“He was made fun of a lot, it was said that he likes to wear old clothes. He always appeared with a dressy style shirt. Most players say he dresses like he is 40 or 50, or even like a grandfather.”

Good humor, by the way, is one of the characteristics that the Brazilian attributes to the Manchester City player.

“It shows that everyone gets on well with him. This is exactly the relationship we have with him. I don’t know anyone in the world who doesn’t like Bernardo.”
