Manchester United goalkeeper announces retirement at 23

Manchester United Under-23 goalkeeper Paul Woolston has announced the end of his career at the age of 23.

England international under 18, the goalkeeper has decided to put an end to his professional career after successive injuries which forced him to undergo two operations. Woolston was signed in 2018 after impressing Red Devils officials when he lined up for Newcastle.

“Having to retire at 23 is tough but I feel more positive now. I’m proud of everything I’ve achieved, a lot of people only dream of playing at this level. Of course I would love to go even further, but it was already an honor to have represented Manchester United”, he began by saying, quoted by the site of the English emblem.

“The support from my family, friends, teammates, coaches and the entire Manchester United academy has been phenomenal. Everyone has been important during my journey to keep me positive. Now my focus is on continuing to my career. I’m ready to use everything I’ve learned, my resilience and my determination to succeed in life,” he added.

According to Manchester United, Paul Woolston will work with the club’s youth team.
