Italian cyclist Sony Colbrelli, from Bahrain-Victorious, suffered cardiac arrest shortly after the end of the first stage of the Vuelta a Catalunya, which he sprinted with Michael Matthews.
Colbrelli, winner of Paris-Roubaix last year and European road cycling champion, collapsed shortly after crossing the finish line, with the organization’s medical staff acting immediately to give the ‘Italian heart massage.
According to Cadena Cope, the cyclist regained his senses while still at the scene and is “stable”.
