Domingos Paciência, a former Portugal international, has no doubt that the national team will do everything to be present at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
In the pre-chamber of the match against Turkey, in the semi-final of the play-off, scheduled for Thursday (7:45 p.m.), at the Estádio do Dragão, Domingos Paciência left a message of conviction. “I believe that everything will be done for the Selection to be in the World Cup. The ideal scenario would of course be direct qualification, but since we did not achieve this, there are the play-offs. It is not an easy time for the teams and for the national teams, due to the overload of games, but I also have no doubt that the players will surpass themselves for Portugal to be in the World Cup. If that didn’t happen, it would be a huge sadness,” he added.
Vitinha’s recent call-up to Fernando Santos’ squad – due to Rúben Neves’ injury – also deserved a reaction from Domingos Paciência: “He has grown steadily and that shows in the dynamics of FC Porto’s game. . He is a player who is part of the selection process and it is only natural that Fernando Santos is attentive. Vitinha filled the field with his performances and this call is more than deserved”.
