McLaren were one of the main losers in the inaugural race of the Formula 1 season. Both drivers ran far back and finished outside the points, showing a very different pace to what we saw last season .
Lando Norris admitted that the situation will continue in the next races. “I expect it to be painful and I think everyone needs to know it’s going to be difficult. Like McLaren and I, we expect a lot more, but that’s not what we have for the moment. We have to get used to it. I think we’ve been in this position for a few years now and I hope we can stay optimistic and everyone at MTC [McLaren Technology Centre] figure out what’s wrong and we can get back on track.”
On McLaren’s lack of pace, Norris insisted that “if we complain about it, we still have a Mercedes in third and fourth. It certainly doesn’t help so I think we have issues in that aspect compared to rivals but I mean I’ve seen issues in other cars so reliability is good I think it’s is a positive point at the moment.”
