A BOLA – A month ago he was playing in a refugee team, now he scored in Serie A (Italy)

Moustapha Cissé was, until last Sunday, an unknown name in world football. Now, the story of this 18-year-old striker is going around the world. Not only because he scored in his first game in Serie A, but above all because until a month ago he was playing amateur football with a team made up of refugees.

Born in Guinea-Conakry, he arrived in Italy as an orphan and a refugee, having joined ASD Rinascita Refugees, an eighth-tier team for players seeking asylum. At the end of February, he aroused the interest of Atalanta scouts during a preparation match and ended up being hired by the Bergamo club for the youth ranks.

In a few weeks he showed qualities (he scored three goals in three games in the youth championship) which caught the attention of Gian Piero Gasperini, coach of the first team who included him in the call for the game against Bologna. He started the match on the bench and came on in the 65th minute to score, in the 82nd minute, the goal that gave Atalanta victory in this match of the 30th final.

A meteoric rise and a moving story that has aroused interest, not only in Italy, but in the rest of the world.
