″After all, what is the criterion?″

At Boavista-FC Porto, Mbemba saw Yusupha yellow for a stomp. VAR called Artur Soares Dias to consider the offer, but the match referee upheld the decision. Benfica consider it should have been red, comparing the offer with what prompted Taarabt’s expulsion against Vizela.

Benfica are aiming to officiate Boavista-FC Porto on Sunday for pardoning the expulsion of Dragons centre-back Mbemba. In the opinion of the eagles, the blow in question was not analyzed with the same criteria as that which motivated the expulsion of Taarabt during the reception at Vizela (1-1), the day before.

In this Monday’s News Benfica, the club de la Luz affirms that the criterion used “seems to be the different emblems [FC Porto e Benfica]”, in which “the same always benefits, every time”, while Benfica is “systematically harmed”.

The Reds added that “there is an urgent need to put an end to such injustice and restore sporting truth, in the interest of the credibility of Portuguese football”.

“Two similar moves that led to the intervention of VAR, but with different results. Taarabt, from Benfica against Vizela, was sent off, Mbemba, from FC Porto against Boavista, was spared. After all, what is the criterion in the type of movement in If it is, it seems, the various emblems, which it is always taken advantage of, time and time again, and Benfica systematically aggrieved – at least nine points retained this season -, it is urgent to put an end to such injustice and restore sporting truth, for the credibility of Portuguese football”, reads the daily newsletter of the Lisbon emblem.
