THE BALL – Heavy fine for FC Porto, Benfica also sanctioned (UEFA)

FC Porto have been fined 50,000 euros for delaying the start or resumption of the second leg of the Europa League play-offs with Lazio, played on February 24.

In the document published by UEFA, it is also confirmed that the lawsuit filed against the coach of the Dragons, Sérgio Conceição, for the same reason has been “closed”.

Benfica will pay a fine of three thousand euros for the use of pyrotechnic effects by supporters during the match played at the Estádio da Luz on February 23 against Ajax, referring to the first leg of the Round of 16 of the League of champions.

Luz was also fined 2,500 euros for breaching sanitary protocol (use of masks and disinfectant gel) during the Youth League match with Midtjylland, played on March 2.

This match also ended in a suspension match for João Neves, expelled for violent entry during the victory (3-2) against the Danes.
