Leaving Al Duhail to guide Botafogo, a Brazilian side set to announce the Portugal manager earlier this week, Luís Castro bid farewell to Qatar with the Emir Cup victory, a 5-1 rout of Al Gharafa.
“It was, without a doubt, the best way to end my connection with Al Duhail. We deserved the victory, I will never forget the times I spent here. We played very well, we scored several goals and the team was fantastic. The opponent appreciated our well-deserved triumph. It is true that the beginnings were not easy, we really lived through a horrible period, with many cases of Covid-19 and injuries. But, with the whole group at our disposal, we have improved a lot”, noted Luís Castro, who played 26 games against Al Duhail, with a record of 18 wins, five draws and three defeats.
Also after the match, Khalifa Al-Sulaiti, vice-president of Al Duhail, wished “good luck” to the 60-year-old coach.
