Harry Potter fans have reason to smile as the new Hogwarts Legacy game is set to arrive at the end of the year, just in time for Christmas. In this open-world based adventure, players won’t control the young protagonist of JK Rowling’s adventures, as the game is set over a century before the original books, which have already come to life in cinemas. The author of the books is not involved in this production.
As the title of the game suggests, the spotlight is entirely on the famous school of wizards and the player faces off against one of his students. It will be a character created from scratch by the player, including his appearance, which will then be put to the decision of the famous magic hat who decides which of the four factions of students of sorcery the protagonist will align himself with. The player-controlled character is a 15-year-old student who arrived late at Hogwarts.

Hogwarts Legacy, created by Avalanche Studios, the studio behind Dinsey Infinite games and figures, features a mysterious new story for players to unravel. It also means that Hogwarts teachers and students will be new, although Warner Bros. promise a very familiar ambience of the famous wizarding castle. In addition to Hogwarts, you will be able to explore everything around it, including a village, among other places to visit: dungeons, caves, etc.
Routines for little wizards are promised, including magic lessons, with the promise of dozens of spells to learn, which will then be used in combat. Movement across the sky in the flying broomsticks is also confirmed. Quidditch, the famous wizarding sport, was simply not mentioned. You’ll also take part in botany classes, potion making, and of course defenses against the dark arts, known from the movies and books.
Sony’s State of Play showcased all the dynamics of the castle, including the moving images, the ghosts that inhabit Hogwarts, the secret passageways, and of course, the magical creatures that abound in this world. The studio even took the opportunity to build some areas that were mentioned in the books but ultimately didn’t make it into the movies, including Hufflepuff’s common wing, the castle kitchens, and others.
Like RPGs, players will be able to upgrade character abilities, as well as make their spells more powerful. It can even become invisible to stealthy approaches to the action. Potions grant temporary buffs to attacks or use Mandrake Root in the middle of combat.
The game will encourage collecting, including any magical creatures you can find. You will be able to create your own house at Hogwarts, creating a personal laboratory, with personalized decoration for each player. You will also find characters with their own stories, offering the player special missions.
Hogwarts Legacy is coming later this year to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.
