After missing the African Cup of Nations at the start of the year, Zouhair Feddal was once again excluded from Morocco coach Vahid Halilhodzic’s choice for the 2022 World Cup qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo. This time, however, Sporting’s centre-back’s absence has sparked controversy.
“I received the call for the concentration of the national team and the federation even sent me the plane ticket to be able to travel. Today [ontem] I was shocked not to see my name on the list. So far I don’t know why,” Feddal said yesterday, speaking to DM Sport.
Faced with this revelation, the coach, Vahid Halihodiz, justified himself: “Feddal? I had forgotten he was left-handed. So I opted for El Yamiq [central do Valladolid]. Did we send the plane ticket to Feddal? It doesn’t interest me, it’s not me who pays. If you want, you can see it from the bench.
