Edgardo Lasalvia, Darwin Núñez’s coach, admits the Uruguayan international could leave at the end of the season and that Atletico Madrid, led by Diego Simeone and João Félix, have a strong interest in the Benfica player.
“The club that has been the most attentive and has told us the most about Darwin is Atlético de Madrid and I will soon be traveling to Europe to meet them and with Benfica. I think Benfica will be open to the idea of making a nice sale, but only at the end of the season, or so they told us. But, be careful, the head of Darwin, at the moment, is 100% at Benfica”, he explained, stressing that the striker “deserves to make the leap to a stronger league” and that “he had a good time”.
The agent also admits ‘exploratory contacts’ from Barcelona and also from a club in Germany and another in England, but ‘not as firm’ as Atl. Madrid.
