iRobot adds Siri to Roomba vacuums

Increasingly common in homes, automatic vacuum cleaners are widely used to clean rooms without having to get up from the sofa, for example. One of the leading companies in this sector is iRobot which now integrates the voice assistant Crab on the device.

Already integrated with alexa and Google Assistantthe vacuum cleaner chamberba will receive this news with the arrival of version 4.0 of the software. Like other assistants, Siri can be used to turn on, turn off, and clean specific rooms in the house. But with Apple’s voice assistant, users can create a Siri shortcut in the Roomba app.

Among some of the future updates, it will also be possible to create custom phrases to activate commands, such as “Hey Siri, clean my cave” or “Hey Siri, start cleaning the tavern”.

Also, with the next versions of the software, the vacuum cleaners will gain a “Do not disturb” mode. Thus, you can configure the operating hours of the device. Version 4.0 will roll out to all users over the next few months and should be widely available by June, the company said.

iRobot’s last major update came in November last year when Roomba integrated with Alexa Hunches. This feature allows the voice assistant to activate the vacuum whenever it wants. In this way, the equipment will start working as soon as people leave the house, for example.

Another proactive feature is an integration with Alexa announcements. This technology allows a command to be transmitted to all connected Alexa devices. Thus, if the user is near a smart speaker or a smartphone, he will be notified when the work is finished or if there is a problem.
