Giro Marília -Saúde de Marília warns of countries requiring polio and meningitis vaccines

Marília’s Epidemiological Surveillance Service issued an alert to travelers traveling abroad on Thursday regarding countries that require vaccines against poliomyelitis and meningitis.

In the case of poliomyelitis, these are countries where the disease is not considered eradicated, but the warning also applies to the reverse movement: vaccines protect people from these countries here.

“Epidemiological surveillance emphasizes to parents the importance of keeping the vaccination schedule of children and adolescents up to date, since the vaccines protect them from various diseases, since Brazil receives several tourists and immigrants from different countries every year”.

Countries where polio vaccination is mandatory are: Afghanistan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Ukraine, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Guinea, Iraq, Kenya, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Liberia, Madagascar, Myanmar, Niger , Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea Bissau, Senegal and Yemen.

The countries where the meningitis vaccine is compulsory are: Saudi Arabia, Gambia and Libya.
