The 2nd Arrastão da Dengue in Palotina began on March 15. According to the schedule published by the Department of Administration in collaboration with the Department of Endemic Diseases, this first stage took place in the district of São Camilo in the morning, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Due to high demand, the work has been extended until March 16.

The team collected more than 200 tons of materials that serve as breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, including remains, old furniture, rubble, old household appliances, among others.

It is understood that each citizen is responsible for properly disposing of their waste, for sorting it properly before being picked up. The Instruction for Personnel to Combat the Vector, which is the national dengue control program, implemented by Funasa, contains the following:

– “The cleaning of the drag in the communes or neighborhoods aims to eliminate or remove the predominant deposits, that is to say everything that can accumulate water.”

“Dengue Arrastão is a project to collect materials that serve as a breeding ground for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, but we know that it is the duty of the whole population to take care of their garden by collecting and covering, thus avoiding the accumulation of water. , of any material that serves as soil”, underlines the coordinator of endemic diseases Terezinha Duarte.

The chief of staff of the administration, Kepler Machado, accompanied the work, “in this first stage, hearths were found in mattresses, sofas, old clothes, bags, tires, among other materials. Agents of diseases endemic to Palotina are a differentiated group, because they want and make a difference for the population. We are lucky to have this group,” says Kepler.
