The Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Jales began in the morning (Wednesday 9, the assistance to the dengue hydration unit, located in the study center of the institution with the supervision of the team of nurses for 24 hours. The change began due to the high demand for emergency care and to provide more comfort to the patients being treated.

Due to the increase in Dengue fever cases in the city of Jales, the attendance of patients suspected or infected with the Aedes aegypti mosquito, vector of Zika, Chikungunya and Dengue fever, has doubled to the hospital for screening, medical care, examinations and hydration. with a saline solution, according to the needs of the patient, lasting about three hours.

According to the technician in charge of nursing, Pedro Henrique Azevedo, hydration is essential during the period of treatment of the disease. “The hydration unit was organized with chairs, IV support, pressure devices, medications, a bathroom, and it was also an air-conditioned environment to provide that support for patients being treated in the hospital. According to the need of the calls, more chairs and supports for the serum will be placed.This service of hydration during the treatment of the disease is of great value”, concluded the nurse.

It should be emphasized that after the mosquito bite with the virus, the symptoms usually appear from the 3rd to the 15th day, this period is called incubation. The average duration of the disease is five to six days, and it is only after the incubation period that the following symptoms appear: High fever; headache; pain behind the eyes; loss of taste and appetite; nausea and vomiting; dizziness; Extreme tiredness; measles-like patches and rashes, especially on the chest and upper limbs; softness and pain in the body; bone and joint pain.
