Sony, the owner of PlayStation, announced in a statement that its gaming unit is joining the global community in calling for peace in Ukraine.

“We have suspended all software and hardware shipments, the launch of Gran Turismo 7 and PlayStation Store operations in Russia,” he added.

The Japanese tech giant also announced that it would donate two million dollars to the UN refugee agency and the organization Save the Children “to support the victims of this tragedy”.

A Nintendo spokesperson told AFP that the Kyoto-based company, owner of the popular Switch console, has suspended shipments of all its products to Russia “for the time being”, without revealing any details. when the measure will begin to apply.

“There are two reasons. One is that our online store (in Russia) has been under maintenance since March 4 because the payment provider suspended ruble transactions. The other is a logistical disruption,” said the spokesperson.

A growing number of multinationals such as McDonald’s, Adidas and Samsung have suspended all or part of their activities in Russia after the invasion of the neighboring country on February 24.

Some cited supply chain disruptions and others linked it to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to send troops to Ukraine.
