THE BALL – Alaba explains the celebration with a chair (Champions League)

David Alaba (Real Madrid) grabbed a chair when Karim Benzema scored the third goal against Paris Saint-Germain (3-1) and secured the Champions League comeback. There were a lot of assumptions about the reason and now the defender has explained it.

“It’s good to have a new celebration once in a while. I lifted the chair and didn’t think much. It was due to emotion. It’s easy to go crazy with such a sensational turnover,” the defender said, speaking to Sport1.

The Austrian defender praised Benzema: “Everyone knows how important he is to us. Benzema decided the game by scoring all three goals, but his leadership and charisma are also very important to us. He is a world class player. I hope he scores three more goals in the quarters.
