CCZ realizes a working group to fight against dengue, zika and chikungunya mosquitoes – Portal Ururau – News Site

A joint effort to combat the aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue fever, zika and chikungunya, is taking place this Thursday (10), until 5 p.m., at Parque Nova Brasília. About sixty endemic agents from the Zoonoses Control Center (CCZ) were divided into several groups to visit homes and businesses in the neighborhood.

The action also included the participation of a motofog (motofog) for hard-to-reach places. The director of the CCZ, Carlos Morales, explains that the intention is to do this movement once a week.

“The neighborhood is chosen based on the Aedes aegypti Rapid Index Survey (LIRAa), which measures the rate of mosquito infestation. In Nova Brasília, 2.94% was recorded, an index considered high. In the town, the rate is 5%, a figure which, according to the World Health Organization, should be less than 1%. It is good to specify that this action takes place in parallel with the daily actions of fight against the mosquito in other districts”.

Shopkeeper Edilson Siqueira de Souza received advice from agents to keep his establishment mosquito-free. “We always have the CCZ visit here. It is important to prevent the proliferation of the mosquito”.

Passionate about plants, housewife Maria Goreti Coelho takes the necessary precautions not to allow water to stagnate. When officers visited, no homes were found. “I love plants, I have lots of them, but I don’t have a dish in the pots. I am very careful because my 83-year-old mother has already had dengue fever 3 times and is bedridden”.

In addition to homes and businesses, officers also visited vacant lots to collect trash, such as tires and disposable items that serve as a reservoir for Aedes larvae. The action lasts until 5 p.m.
