Portugal imports some of the sunflower oil it sells from Ukraine. So much so that some large Portuguese brands, such as Continente and Mercadona, are already rationing the sale of sunflower oil to consumers.
In the case of the first, it is only allowed to purchase three units of the product. In the case of the second, the controls point to three liters.
According to an internal directive to which the JN had access, Continente stores were instructed to “limit the sale of cooking oils to three units per act of purchase”. The company justified the measure by “the sharp increase in demand” that the supermarket chain has been experiencing “in recent days”.
