Yevhen Zvonok, the 22-year-old Ukrainian kickboxing champion, hired to defend the Chernihiv region, is yet another victim of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, having not survived the injuries caused by a bombardment.
According to the Ukrainian television channel Suspilne, the athlete died on the 3rd, but his body was found only yesterday, Monday, among the rubble of an apartment building.
“He was only at the beginning of his sports career. Last year he was vice-world champion in kickboxing, he was champion of Ukraine for several years. At the end of March he would participate in the championship of Ukraine. We were preparing to go to Odessa with him,” coach Sergey Lysyuk reported.
