Pep Guardiola has revealed that Rúben Dias suffered a muscle injury against Peterborough in the FA Cup and will have to rest between four and six weeks.
This means the centre-back will miss Saturday’s long-awaited derby against Manchester United and also risk Portugal’s play-off for the Qatar World Cup, which is played on March 24, against Turkey.
“Rúben Dias will stop for four to six weeks. These are things that happen during the season. One of our best players (Kevin De Bruyne) was out for eight or nine months. I will not cry. We have two central defenders. People said we were lucky with Covid-19, but we’ve only had 15 or 16 players in the last few months. Let’s fight,” the coach said at a press conference.
Another central defender, Nathan Aké, was injured during this match.
