WhatsApp is testing a new audio recording feature. According to Wabetainfo website, this feature is already available for IOS and desktop, however, the platform is bringing the new feature to Android. Also according to the website, the functionality should arrive in version of the application.

The new feature will allow users to pause and resume audio recordings. So far in the testing phase, the feature is quite easy to use. Just start recording audio, swipe the microphone icon up, hit “pause”, then right in the center the continue recording button will appear as a microphone icon , red in color.

In the current version, the box is empty, i.e. it is possible to pause a recording, however, the user has only two options: delete the voicemail and re-record it or send as is. It should be remembered that in the desktop version you need to have a microphone in order to record audio.

The release of the new functionality will be gradual, i.e. some test users have already received the new functionality. If your app is up to date, but you can’t pause and resume recording, just wait for the feature to come to your WhatsApp.
