THE BALL – Kalle Rovanpera wins Rally Sweden and leaves words of encouragement for Ukraine (Motors)

Kalle Rovanpera (Toyota Yaris) won Rally Sweden, the second round of the World Championship, and took the lead in the World Championship, leaving a word of encouragement to the Ukrainian people.

The 21-year-old Finnish driver finished the race with a time of 2:10:44.9 hours, leaving second, Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai i20), 22 seconds behind, while Finn Esapekka Lappi (Toyota Yaris), third place, was at 30.6 seconds.

The former championship leader and winner of the opening race in Monte-Carlo, the Frenchman Sébastien Loeb (Ford Puma), has decided not to participate in this journey, since he will only do a few championship races, like the title holder, the Frenchman Sébastien Ogier (Toyota Yaris).

In this way, Rovanpera climbed to the top of the World Cup, with 46 points, 14 more than the second, the Belgian Thierry Neuville.

Loeb, despite the absence in Sweden, is third with 27 points.

In the end, Kalle Rovanpera did not forget the events in Ukraine.

“I don’t really want to party. It’s been a difficult week for the Ukrainians and I hope they find the strength to face these difficult times.

The championship returns from April 21 to 24, with Rally Croatia.
